Mention Jesus...don't mention Jesus

I must say, it was a refreshing change to actually have the name of Jesus mentioned at this year's school Christmas celebrations. The headteacher took the bull by the horns and refused to be browbeaten, giving the proceedings a trad but still quite luke warm feel. Brave. (some M@slims did withdraw their kids)

Interestingly, the PC crowd of people pleasers have it seems been overly correcting this year in Sheffield and caused some backlash. You can't please everyone.
See article in our local.

Having said all that, I'm not sure I am so bothered. In fact, the tepidity and downright error that is conveyed in some half-baked attempts to be "Christian", does more harm than good I'd wager.

Any thoughts?

I'm with you there. A lot of the tabloid/pub talk about political correctness at Christmas often seems to me a combination of hostility towards other cultures, and a understandable dislike of inauthenticity (perhaps the wrong word, 'nonsense' maybe). Christ is not really a concern of the headline writers I think.

It's good that they're trying, at least. When I was there, he tried to explain the logical explanation behind the story of the five loaves and two fish. He said, "Everyone brought their own lunch anyway but was too selfish to share. The boy was the only generous one."
NONSENSE! They'd have just eaten it anyway. Not even humans are that stupid.
