Trapped

Many asylum seeker mothers are trapped in a scheme making it very difficult for them to buy essentials for their children. The government supplies them with luncheon vouchers instead of cash. This means they cannot use public transport or buy non food items (eg. nappies and baby items) but they can buy McDonald's and shop at certain supermarkets (which may be several miles from their home).

See the BBC report here.

We are part of a counter-scheme in Sheffield buying vouchers from mothers with young babies. Can you help?
A friend of mine has been running this scheme to help by buying vouchers from mothers with young babies. The scheme has grown over the last few months and we now have a stockpile of Morrisons vouchers and luncheon vouchers (usable at all major supermarkets for food items). Unless we can sell these, we cannot buy any more. Luncheon vouchers can be used for any food shopping at a large range of supermarkets, listed on the books.

If anyone could buy some vouchers from us now and consider buying regularly in the future that would be wonderful!

Please contact me if you can help in this.

What is scale of your stock pile. Was wondering if eg students at Wilson Carlile College - Cavendish St in Sheffield might take some off your hands - guess you would need to ask permission from the Associate Principal (Christine Gore) first.

As long as it is legal I think she might be quite sympathetic. After saying this she may have reasons why my thought on this isn't possible.

God bless

Thx Neil. I will pursue that. Have we met? I feel we may have done so.

Not sure that we have met, I was until last year a student at Wilson Carlile College and now am an evangelist working in Huddersfield.

Surprisingly didn't come across 'Life on the Edge' whilst there. Obviously some good stuff going on.

God bless
