Destitute in Sheffield. Recently all his stuff (2 suitcases) was disposed of, including important papers. Asylum is still being refused him. Wife and children missing, probably murdered back in his home country. "J's" story is tragic. I held back tears last Friday at Sharrow Hangout as he showed me his remaining possession- a tattered, oft thumbed photo album of people he'll probably never see again. Smiling faces of those he loved and has now lost. We chased after his things from a housing organisation, hoping they may have held onto them. They're gone.
Providentially that day, an American missionary from France, helped me with an impromptu bible study in French (J's 1st language). It was beautiful as we spoke of the "esperance vivante" (1Peter 1v3) we have as God's children. It lifted J's spirits. Please pray for him that we'd be able to help and support him as a community. He cooks for us all this Friday!
