Sheffield - City of Sanctuary

(see here for more info)

I think it's great that Sheffield is becoming known as a City of Sanctuary for Asylum seekers and refugees. It is refreshing to be among those who wish to welcome, befriend and be advocates for those fleeing horrific situations.
I spent some of this morning with a Kurdish friend. Friends from TCH Abbey are giving him a home and sharing the gospel and their very own lives with him. I discovered that he wakes them up at night with his shouting due to his nightmares. No one really knows what horrific stuff he has gone through.

If you're around, why not drop in at the public meeting on Tuesday?
It's organised by the City of Sanctuary group. I'm expecting it'll be a good evening.

A talk by asylum-seekers and refugees

about their experiences in Sheffield

Tuesday 25th April, 7.30pm at the Quaker Meeting House, 10 St. James St., S1 (near the Anglican Cathedral)
