Feeling downcast? Tell your soul to get with the gospel.
I read this tonight and was drawn to love Jesus more and hope in his promises again and press on in the race.

Thanks Chas (Wesley).

Why not text the words of one of the verses to a brother or sister in adversity?

Arise my soul arise
shake off your guilty fears
The bleeding sacrifice,
in my behalf appears
Before the throne my surety stands
My name is written on His hands

He ever lives above,
for me to intercede
His all-redeeming love,
His precious blood to plead
His blood atoned for every race
And sprinkles now the
throne of grace

Five bleeding wounds he bears,
received on Calvary
They pour effectual prayers,
they strongly plead for me
Forgive him, O forgive they cry
Nor let this ransomed sinner die

My God is reconciled,
His pard'ning voice I hear
He owns me for His child,
I can no longer fear
With confidence I now draw nigh
And Father, Abba, Father cry!

If we could understand the import of Christ our sacrifice and advocate and, positionally, the power and function of His blood, advocating with the Father for us, we would be utterly overwhelmed. Like this hymnwriter concluded, IT IS A BIG DEAL. It starts with guilt and fear and ends with an unafraid child of the Father. That is both an encouragement to the discouraged that the God of the universe continually thinks about you and an encouragement to the faithful to keep up the good fight. May God Bless Stov Sheffield and his family across the Pond.
