Sleep evades me (body clock still not right?) which is not like me.
Quality time with Qiang and his wife and Wing today. He got out his CD collection and played me his favourites (anyone remember Richard Clayderman?).
His all time favourite is a Christmas album by country megastar Garth Brooks (a Christian?). Qiang hadn't realised that this was all about the birth of Christ, he was delighted and good conversation ensued (translated).
There then followed a moment of pure surrealism as I played Qiang's guitar (which has hung as a decoration unplayed and undusted for literally 10 years! It tuned up amazingly!!) and he and I and Garth sang Silent Night.
Later, his wife joined in and we did all kinds of numbers from Edelweiss to Amazing Grace. They don't sing the English words, a sort of Chinese 'dah dah' ing with occasional approximation to English sounding syllables, but what fun!
Saturday morning church tomorrow, so up early, if I can get to sleep.

haha...didn't you know, Andy? All country music singers are Christian? Well...errr, maybe not. But I think the country music genre is much more prone to singing about religion and the "real stuff" of life, and many of "them country folk" reference God in their songs...but also alcohol, affairs, etc...so, whether Garth is really a Christian...only God knows. :-)
